President Dalia Grybauskaitė had a bilateral meeting in Kiev with the President of Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovych. In Kharkov, the President met with Mikhail Dobkin, the Governor of Kharkov Region, and visited former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko in hospital. Today President Dalia Grybauskaitė is leaving on a working visit to Ukraine. The President will meet with former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko in a hospital in Kharkov. Later in the day, the President will have a bilateral meeting in Kiev with President Viktor Yanukovych. President Dalia Grybauskaitė extended congratulations to the newly elected French President, François Hollande. President Dalia Grybauskaitė extended congratulations to President-elect János Áder of the Republic of Hungary on his victory in presidential election. President Dalia Grybauskaitė met with US Senator John McCain, who is currently in Lithuania to attend an international conference organized by the Parliamentary Forum for Democracy, to discuss the bilateral relations between Lithuania and the United States, the regional security issues, and the preparedness for the NATO Summit in Chicago. President Dalia Grybauskaitė accepted letters of credence from the Ambassador of Kosovo, Lulzim Peci. During the meeting, the President and the new Ambassador to Lithuania discussed the bilateral relations and the perspectives of Kosovo’s integration into the European Union. President Dalia Grybauskaitė met with President Gjorge Ivanov of the Republic of Macedonia to discuss the opportunities for cooperation in economic, agricultural, cultural and scientific areas, as well as Macedonia's integration into the European Union and NATO. The leaders of both countries have agreed to strengthen interstate relations and to exploit the full potential of bilateral and cross-border cooperation. Tomorrow, May 1 at 10 a.m., President Dalia Grybauskaitė will meet with President Gjorge Ivanov of the Republic of Macedonia. A bilateral agreement on cultural cooperation is going to be signed during their meeting at the Presidential Palace. The two presidents will discuss relations between Lithuania and Macedonia, opportunities for cooperation in economic, agricultural, cultural, and higher education areas as well as Macedonia’s integration into the European Union and NATO.
