Dalia Grybauskaitė extends condolences to Italy on the death of former President Oscar Luigi Scalfaro

Monday, January 30, Brussels - President Dalia Grybauskaitė offered condolences to President Giorgio Napolitano of the Italian Republic and to the people of Italy over the death of President Oscar Luigi Scalfaro.

"In Lithuania, we will remember President Scalfaro not only as a supporter of a strong, united Italy, but also as a devoted friend of Lithuania and a staunch advocate of our country's membership in the European Union and NATO. I offer my heartfelt sympathy to the President's family and friends and to all the people of Italy," the President wrote in her message of condolences.
